Containerised BESS systems design and deployment
ZettaJoule engineers, design, build and commission containerised battery energy storage systems for industrial, commercial, and utility applications, with local EMS and remote VTScada support.
Containerised battery energy storage systems (BESS) package batteries, power conversion, controls, and safety systems into prefabricated ISO containers that can be rapidly deployed on-site. ZettaJoule focuses on engineered solutions for industrial plants, commercial facilities, utilities and microgrids, where performance, safety and lifecycle cost matter more than headline kWh numbers.

We support the full lifecycle: system specification, electrical and controls engineering, integration with PV, generators and grid, factory testing, site installation and commissioning, and long-term monitoring and support.
We design each BESS around clearly defined performance requirements: active power (kW/MW), usable energy (kWh/MWh), AC connection voltage, power factor range, and response times for grid events. Typical systems range from a few hundred kW into the multi-MW scale, with container blocks that can be paralleled to grow capacity over time.

The architecture supports multiple operating modes, including peak shaving, backup, islanded operation, and grid support services such as frequency response. Communications and data models are engineered for integration into existing SCADA, plant DCS, or microgrid controllers.
Design Criteria

BESS projects sit at the intersection of high-energy batteries and power electronics.

We engineer systems to comply with relevant electrical, battery, fire, and safety standards, and we work with the project team to ensure the overall installation meets local regulatory requirements.

Our approach is risk-based: we identify credible failure modes, define protective measures, and ensure that EMS logic, interlocks and emergency procedures are consistent with that analysis.

Second to safety comes energy availability. Our system design is ultra-modular, specifically crafted to eliminate single points of failure. We achieve this through redundancy with modular design elements and a design that support fully autonomous operation, ensuring that every component in the system works seamlessly together.

In response to the increased adoption of Electrical vehicles, the International Energy Agency (IEA) projects a staggering need for the world to add or upgrade 80 million kilometres of power lines by 2040. Imagine that! it is like rebuilding the entire global grid, which has taken over a century to develop, in less than two decades!

It is therefore abundantly clear, relying solely on grid expansion to support fast-charging infrastructure won't cut it. The future of fast EV charging will inevitably require major off-grid solutions.

That’s why our new j-GridIII BESS upgrade was redesigned from the cell level up to the Energy Management System (EMS) to create a fully DC solution. Integrating with the grid will be a convenient option rather than a primary design criterion.  

The AGE OF STORAGE, not only spelt the end of the era of fossil fuels, but also the end of the Grid as the sole source of high-power infrastructure to the economies of the world. It is also the start of the age of the DC-BESS infrastructure.
